Penthouse in Berlin-Zehlendorf 15. December 2010

A Landhausvilla in Berlin’s southern Zehlendorf district received an entirely new roof construction that both reconstructed the former pyramid-shaped roof and augmented this with four new geometrically stringent dormers on all four sides to achieve generous living spaces that replace the formerly cramped attic chambers.

A central, southern-oriented hall space where living and kitchen are united orients toward the garden, bedroom and bathroom complete the floor plan in the north. To increase the spatial generosity it was decided to extend the apartment via an internal stair down to its own foyer space on the level below. Natural materials such as Oak parquet flooring, brick tile roofing, and ceramic tile plates are implemented to achieve a direct interconnection to the adjacent natural surroundings and create an urban place of relaxation for the busy clients.
